iSTEP-GLOBAL experts highlight that trauma can manifest in a variety of ways that affect how a student behaves, feels, and learns. The signs can be obvious, such as behavior change or more subtle, e.g. reduction in size of a child’s writing.
Participants will learn some of the key warning signs of trauma, such as withdrawal, aggression, and sudden drops in academic performance. With this understanding, teachers will be better equipped to respond with empathy and build student emotional, relational, and academic resourcefulness. Such practices grow student resilience and help teachers identify who needs to be referred to trauma-specific services.
